Britain’s Geraint Thomas won his first Grand Tour stage with victory in the opening 14km time trial of the 2017 Tour de France in Dusseldorf, in 16 minutes four seconds to take the yellow jersey, with team-mate and defending champion Chris Froome 12 seconds back in sixth.
Tomorrow July 1st, it begins that long and winding road known as Tour de France
Ophélie Duvillard, is a model, actress and blogger from Megève, Rhône-Alpes, in France. Megève is where stage 20 of Le Tour de France will start. The novelty of 2016 is a downhill grand finale! Joux-Plane isn’t just another climb. It’s one of the Alpine passes the riders fear the most.

One day I went to my friend and asked him to licence me his dad’s name so I could open the best jazz bar in Paris. My friend Erin Davis is very chilled having grown up in Malibu and his dad was a great jazz musician who was loved by France, Miles Davis. The bar never happened mainly because sometime you can be too chilled.
Le Tour de France left Switzerland arriving in Chamonix, France where the green grass touches the blue sky’s of heaven. In the French Alps, everyone is settling or moving to wherever they will rest for the night and I do what I do, go explore. Soon I run into a girl who seems to be telling people where to go so I decide to ask her if there are any live music spots in Chamonix?. She informs me that there is a new place for jazz I must check out. I tell her I love jazz, and now that I am in France it will be so cool, because one of my friend’s father what loved by France for his jazz. Without so much as missing a beat while checking her phone she asks me who could that musician be that France loved so much. I tell her Miles Davis. No longer looking at the phone she hits my arm and says, “No, Miles Davis is very famous, and in France if you know music you know Miles Davis”. Well this girl Stephanie turned me on to a few very good things. She would take me around and introduced me to her friends and telling them about Erin, and Miles Davis. The name Miles Davis had this magical effect on people and soon the entire world of Chamonix opened up thanks to Miles Davis.
Before telling you more of what I discovered let me have Erin Davis tell you in his own words about his father Miles Davis, and check out Miles perform live.
La Maison des Artistes, was a magic find all thanks to Stephanie, it is a jazz spot, and a recording studio. The night I showed up Lucile Marchal was playing, check her Lucile out and through this I discovered Balcony TV, where if you if you are a musician you have to perform.
Le Café Comptoir, a restaurant, bar and music was discovered all thanks Miles Davis and jazz and Lucile Marchal as she had made this promotional video for their Cosmo Jazz Festival. Check it out, the jazz festival site here, Cosmo July 23 -31, 2016
We’re sorry but we are forced to cancel the concert tonight because the musicians can only happen to vallorcine due to caravan of the tour de France… When the caravan moves on…. But this is only part discount because Diego and Balthazar: we love them! We will let you know… Kisses to all… – Le Cafe Comptoir
Well as you can see Le Tour de France can sometime get in the way of music, sorry about that Le Cafe Comptoir.
As Tour de France rolled into Bern, Switzerland I ran into someone who looked a lot like David Bowie. Switzerland, I thought, David Bowie had a Chateau here, and then I recalled him telling me how he had picked up the phone and asked EMI Music in London to sign a friend to their label and she too now is a citizen of Switzerland one of Bowie’s old-time friends Tina Turner.
If you roll with Le Tour de France, sometime you wake-up and wonder where am I. Switzerland was no such affair. In Switzerland you saw those red flags with the white plus sign everywhere gone was the flag of France but France was not gone from anyone’s memory “NICE” posters, banners were there to let you know that the Swiss stood in mourning with all those who lost their lives in NICE. During the Tour de France you see so many faces all smiling, cheering the riders but one face really struck me and that was this man (below) who just reminded me of David Bowie and that brought back a lot of memories of Bowie.
Then there was the time David Bowie had lived in Switzerland his home le Château du Signal which he talked to me about and his great friend Tina Turner who also lives in Switzerland and while born in the USA is now a Swiss citizen. Needless to say this all made me miss David Bowie a great deal . David would tell me in a very excited child like manner “They asked me to do the poster for the Montreux jazz festival “, and I would tell Bowie how my friend is always invited to the jazz festival as his dad was a great jazz musician. Bowie would later ask me who my friend was and I would tell him Arron Davis his dad was Miles Davis. So here is the poster David Bowie designed for Montreux (the man loved his art creating it and admiring it).
Here is one of my favorite songs, sung by Tina Turner with David Bowie, and on this note Le Tour de France and I say adieu to Switzerland.
So far I have discovered three musicians I did not know about, till Le Tour de France road trip put them on my radar. Today’s new discovery Agi Brine a singer, songwriter from Poland.
