Khan, Schumacher and Michelin Star Chef F1 India

This year began with an adventure of discovery for My Name is Khan, infusing the west with the east, through fashion, food, films, music and formula one, preparing for the adventure that awaits at F1 of India.

I have always been curious to get to know new cultures, so I am looking forward to traveling to India, as I haven’t been there-Michael Schumacher

On the pages of My Name is Khan you have seen Indian fashion, met everyone that matters in bollywood as they came to Toronto for the IFFA Awards, been introduced to the essence of spices in Indian cuisine brought to you by Arvinda’s and now may I introduce you to the Three Kings who are all on the top of their game.

Shah Rukh Khan known as SRK by millions is expected in Toronto in forty-eight hours,  to open his film Ra One only to turn around and return to India for India’s very first Formula One race. Is he bigger then any Hollywood star, oh yes he is if you consider 600 million people on cell phones  are keeping track of him.

Michael Schumacher is a King among F1 drivers and I have been around the sphere of Michael since he began racing for Team Benetton. Even today I look in amazement at the Benetton cards celebrating the first three wins framed on the wall, not knowing that Michael Schumacher was just warming up. Michael closed a circle in his life by coming back to where he started with Ross Brawn and Mercedes. Michael you have to come to India in your off time and next time I hope that you will come to Jaipur where magic rules and enjoy the history while in the comfort of the luxury of the Fairmont Jaipur who have catered to the best of bollywood in Toronto, so they too like you are on top of their game. There is no doubt Michael is rocking India the media is buzzing,  but then this is India where red is blue and blue in green. Mercedes Benz India is the lead sponsor of the glitzy dazzling Amber Lounge Delhi and so you can be assured that a party not to be forgotten will be taking place in India and Micheal will be present and the music will carry you away  as if on a magic carpet. In India they love music and they love to dance.  I hope you brought your dancing shoes.

Chef Vineet Bhati awarded the Michelin star  I have known  for over twenty five years. I first met Chef Bhati with the late film producer Ismail Merchant at the London restaurant Star of India. Chef Vineet Bhati’s Rosi which is on the same street where I had my first flat in London is off King’s Road on Lincoln Street. Over the years I have seen Vineet always sparkle with new creations. Shah Rukh Khan or Michael Schumacher could not go without food and the food that is prepared by chef Vineet is a odyssey into the world of divine foods that leave you utterly speechless. This is a good thing. The adventure is just beginning for Michael Schumacher because if you have not experienced India or Indian cuisine of chef Vineet Bhati you are still on the path of discovery.

Oh So Delicious ! Abu Dhabi to Toronto!

Abu Dhabi to Toronto is an effortlessly seamless transition as if walking from Soho to Midtown Manhattan, Mayfair to Chelsea, Alexander Platz to Postdamer Platz, made possible thanks to Etihad Airways. Going from a table at Frankie’s at the Fairmont to embark on a three day delicious food show in Toronto. Chef to Chef. Farm to table. Fairmont to Fairmont. How simple life can be and how much fun. Yet nothing is complete without food, it is the essence of life, and if you don’t like eating then I don’t want to know you. Toronto has it Delicious Show and you don’t want to miss this experience, of wine, cocktails, beer’s, foods, cafe’s, and learn how to cook without oil or butter without comprising taste. The Dj’s get the party started, and from start to finish it’s just one big party the kind you don’t want to miss.  I recently got inspired to look into kitchens of Chef’s thanks to a brilliant stage play The Kitchen. During the Toronto Film Festival My Name is Khan featured the kitchen of Toronto Chef Brad Long’s Cafe Belong with films of the day. In Abu Dhabi it started with Kings of Pastry a 2009 Documentary  about collar awarded to the winner of the Meilleur Ouvrier de France  the ultimate recognition for every pastry chef,  it is a dream and an obsession. Along came films and the Chef Marco Pierre White food and films, and so the journey seems seamless as the thread that connects is food.  The adventure of discover and the party never stops at My Name is Khan.

A Thrill For The Senses by Winterbottom in Abu Dhabi!

Trishna the film by Micheal Winterbottom, based on the novel Tess of the d’Urbervilles is a story of a tragic relationship between a property developer and the daughter of an auto rickshaw owner. Only Micheal Winterbottom could take a novel set in lush meadows and green hills and transfer it to Rajasthan which is hot and brown in modern day northern India. Trishna is played by heartthrob, the sexy Freida Pinto, a rustic heroine who’s seduced by a wealthy hotelier’s son. The film debuted at the Toronto Film Festival and here at Abu Dhabi Film Festival Micheal Winter Bottom was awarded the Black Pearl Award for Career Excellence. The film is a journey for the senses it is perhaps a great compliment to the cuisine of Chef Marco Pierre White at the Fairmont. The best part is that the Toronto headquartered Fairmont is opeing a luxury hotel while modern is traditional in architectural design. The new Fairmont is in the heart of Rajasthan in the historic city of Jaipur, where I once made a film Deceivers directed by Nicholas Meyers, starring Pierce Brosnan, Saeed Jaffrey and Shashi Kapoor. Trishna is a film that brings all the elements together, Micheal Winterbottom, the alluring Freida Pinto, Rajasthan, and the Fairmont hotel group from Toronto to Abu Dhabi and soon Jaipur.  The film will want to make you venture out to Rajasthan and see this historic area of India knowing full well that luxury awaits you at the bard new Fairmont hotel opening soon. The adventure never stops on My Name is Khan.

You Talk’n to Me! Chef Marco Pierre White in Abu Dhabi

I love Chef’s who think like this,

“Eating is one of the most important aspects of living. I like indulging. I like to eat one food at a time, to savor each individual thing.”-Marco Pierre White

Chef Marco Pierre White is considered to be the hottest finest master chefs that the United Kingdom has ever produced, and in Abu Dhabi you will find his restaurants in the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, if attending the film festivals or the Formula One race’s then stop in take the time and savor the food from the kitchens of this master chef.  All Chef’s are artisit’s and so expect them to behave as such and this old school rocker molded in the manner of Mick Jagger is just that, a rock star chef, who likes food, wine, women.  Two things are certain about Chef Marco Pierre White, he is talented, very talented, and he has personality.  If you meet a Chef without personality, please, please walk-out the food will be just like the Chef. In Super Chef at My Name is Khan you will only meet those who have the creative style to break the mold and innovate food sending your sense’s hurling into orbit of some distant planet.  Chef Marco Pierre White is also like Marlon Brando.  While Mick Jagger went googo, gaga over his knighthood, Kieth Richards or Ronnie Wood would just balk at it.  Chef Marco Pierre did the same, awarded the three stars of Michelin something no one had achieved in the United Kingdom Chef Marco Pierre renounced the award and retired from cooking. In 2002 he was named the AA Chef of the Decade.  This is my kind of guy.  Good films are not about Oscars it’s all about the passion for the art, from making films, driving F1 cars, music, being a creative director of a fashion house it’s the passion that propels one to keep on going.  The kitchen of Chef Marco Pierre White is constantly in flux, and always innovating.  Perhaps one day I can take you inside the kitchen of this master  Chef Marco Pierre White in Abu Dhabi on My Name is Khan.
