Elodia Like Drizzy Drake Keeps Changing Gears With Her New Single – ‘My Way Home’

No better place to file this blog report on my friend Elodia and her latest collaboration with Melih Aydogan than in Oberhausen, Germany waiting for the man from my city Drizzy Drake.
As one of my friends put it Drake is so big because he is not just rap, he can do anything and after-all he just did a single with Taylor Swift then there is ‘Hot Bling’.

Elodia like Drake can also shift grears.  She has classical musical training started in opera, rock, pop, and now this her first collaboration with Melih. Elodia told me it’s more the direction she is going towards more house-dance. Follow her on her Twitter she is one very cool, talented girl. Here below is her most recent work just to get you warmed up for Drake gig tonight.

2014 Oscars Countdown – Elodia, Singer, Songwriter, Interview – “The Secret of Life” Her First EP

171087_artist Elodia Agostini came to Los Angles from Italy to score a film, just like Hans Zimmer came from Germany and went on to score many an Oscar-winning soundtracks. It’s countdown to Oscar night and it is just as good a time as any to introduce you to Elodia who has just completed her first album. It is funny how the world works, Elodia provided this interview while on a flight to Asia, and now here I am posting this interview while in Japan, where I have been scoping out The Rolling Stones and filming around them for David Bowie Is Around The World. Music is key to films, tonight you will see many singers, bands showcasing their work at the Oscars. We all start some place and for many its to have an album completed. Here in her own words, pure, truthful and raw is the interview with a talented artist and my dear friend, Elodia.

1- How did the process on your first album begin?

It begun when I was 14 years old actually. I had the idea and the strong will to make a rock album that would contain sounds from all over the world. I always considered myself as the “daughter of the world”, so in my mind the vision has been always very clear. I didn’t find anyone who was willing to believe and support it tho, till a couple of years ago, when I left the idea of always depending on a music producer’ vision of me and I’ve got the lead: I became my producer! I looked around for a co/writer, ’cause I believe, sharing visions and experiences brings out the best, sometimes, in order to fully express the need of your soul. I believe, making an album is nothing but create a dimension in which you communicate in the best way with others and with your own self, so to fully experience the journey. And I found my awesome co/writer, the Italian producer/composer and guitar player Dario Forzato. He was very enthusiast at the idea of creating something different and experiencing, session by session, new sounds so to mix&melt them with who we used to be as artists as well as humans till that point. So the process started…

2- What roadblocks, if any, did you experience making the album?

I’d answer that with one word: LIFE. I decided to open myself completely in order to make the music flow through this new work and, believe me, it ain’t been easy all the time. Sometimes, there’s a huge discrepancy between what we think we live and what we really carry onto our souls, so the process to disconnect the Ego and go to the Essence requires Patience, Introspection and Courage. You’re looking in a mirror that you don’t wanna look at all the time. That’s why I’m so really grateful to have had the chance to go through it. Also, as an independent artist, it wasn’t easy, at first, finding the financial support that I needed for my music. The more we were composing and arranging, the more the project become important and in need of proper finances. I found strong support tho and I made it happen in the very best way possible. We’ve been in pre production for 9 months ( yes, exactly like a baby lol ), than got the chance to record it at a wonderful facility called The Audio Labs in Glendale, California where the owner is one of the most amazing artist/producer/engineer ( and anything else ) in Los Angeles, Mr. James Saez. I must say, he really encouraged me to step outside of the box… Of course this reflected also on my personal life. He believed, with this work, we really had the chance to create something new and original, to unveil the needs of my soul. So I jumped and I found the right inspiration!

3- The vibe of the album… how would you describe it in your words?

The album sounds really adventurous, I’d say lol You can expect to see a tiger coming out of somewhere, sooner or later lol At first, one doesn’t really know what to expect: it’s pretty sassy. I wanted to tell people what I feel about myself: I feel, I don’t like to follow the standards, but I love and I live to experience, (as I always say), in a totally independent/sassy-mode. It has sounds from Bali, or India, till Spain and its Flamenco melt into an aggressive, yet melodic rock. That is me. I’m the sum of different cultures that are all part of who I am today. I’m Italian but my ancestors came from Bali, Indonesia and from the Native Tribes here in America. Definitely, my music is who I am! 🙂

4- Many artists experience personal growth or development with their first album. Did this happen with you?

Definitely, as I mentioned before, it has been a real process on the path as an artist as well as a woman. I know myself better now, I have no fears to chase the unknown, I know everything we experience happens cause we need to understand our purpose here on Earth and I accepted. I know better how to let go of certain situations and/or people cause I’ve respect for myself. Making an album is empowering in the very best exception of it. To undress in front of your own self first and to the people you’ll reach, takes courage cause it’s very intimate. I loved it and I’m ready to do it over and over. The album is called “The Secret of Life” and it totally reflected the spirit of the work I was going to do. I saw myself for the whole being we all are: Human&Divine (as the lyrics say) … there’s no difference in between cause we are drops of God (in any possible way you can conceive the Divine Presence).

5- You are on your way to Hong Kong. Are you on a mission of discover or just pleasure?

I’m on a flight now, answering to this interview, with a huge smile ON, on a mission of discover, promote and have pleasure to live the vibe of Hong Kong! My agent and I had the chance to get in touch with radios, magazines and tour bookers there. I believe, the Chinese/Asian market is becoming really preponderant on the worldwide music scene. They offer tools and financial support to the artists the way it was 30-40 years ago here in the US. They are open to listen and to invest. I like to make choices and to have chances. I feel a little overwhelmed by the western markets, like there’s no chance and no space, so I don’t really mind to explore other options. Any form of art belongs to whom is open to accept it, believe in it and support it. I’m just the tool who brought it on Earth in form of music so I want to give it back where there’s the right space for it.

6- How do you personally feel now that you launched the album and what do you consider as your future plans?

I feel confident and really happy about the results we’re achieving. This album blessed me every single day, since the start. It brought me introspection and growth, distribution under a Label ( Inspire U Records, based in Venice, California), and opened up for me the way to the ancient Silk Road, “just” to start! Future plans?! The sky is NOT the limit! Lol I’ve collaborations coming up with artists from all over the world, a tour to plan for sure, music placements, and so much more! I’ll really enjoy the ride, looking at the way the destiny of my music career unfolds before me!

“The Secret of Life” by Elodia is available on iTunes, worldwide.

Elodia Agostini – Living life feeds her soul with music

Elodia Agostini Why do some people come into your life? Don’t think about this too much. It’s the universe making a move, placing someone in your path at the right time, just be awake to recognize and acknowledge the moment.

Elodia Agostini, come from the land where my soul comes from, Italy. She has been around me, like a soft cloud in the blue sky. Elodia and I have mutual friends also musicians whom we both love. Then one day, she posted a picture on Facebook of West Hollywood that caught my eye, as if that soft could had sprinkled rain on my head. I looked up, and there was the talent of Elodia surrounded by a sea of blue sky.

Elodia is a singer, songwriter, opera singer, and like Marco Polo she has traveled from Italy only to return with her experiences’s, replenish her soul and fill the world with the sound of her music.

The young talented Elodia lives in the city of angels, Los Angeles.

This is my first interview on the pages of My Name Is Khan of the New Year of 2013 and it’s about what is most important to me, music, an artist, and passion.

Here in her own words let me introduce you to Elodia Agostini.

Who inspired you to pursue being singer songwriter? ( artist family member)

There always been so many artists in my family, both sides:singers, opera singers, musicians…so I think that was a natural attitude for me.When I was about 7 years old,I remember my mom listening to me,singing the “Body Guard”soundtrack (Whitney Huston). She has been such a huge inspiration for me…I practically knew I could sing “because of her” So my parents started to question me about attending the music academy and, after 24 years,I’m still totally into it; I started to move the first step as a clarinet player. When I was about 12,my teachers started to understand, there was a voice behind the instrument,so I started attending opera singing classes and that was it:my first and only love!

What where some of your favourite things to do growing up in Italy?

I always loved the culture, the food and the whole Country!Italy is seriously beautiful so I wanted to go around, also ’cause of my early start in the music field,I went on tour at a very early age…so lucky!I’ve been always very different, always very busy with my music,so I’ve pretty much lost playing with other kids of my age,but I experienced so much, tasted the real roots of my own culture through the experience of music and I’m so really grateful to my parents and the Universe for being able to have all of this.I left my own house when I was around 14 y.o.,traveling and touring,or reaching other European countries to attend prestigious schools, but I always got back,’cause of the people, the atmosphere, the way of living life feeds in my soul and inspires me.

What brought you to Los Angeles?

I’ve always seen and felt Los Angeles as a target and we become what we think so…In 2008 I’ve got a call from a movie producer who wanted me to score a soundtrack for an upcoming independent movie…I moved from Italy in just 2 weeks.A real jump in the dark, alone, but well worth it!I feel LA as my home now.I’ll always bring Italy in my heart but LA gives me the motivation, the inspiration, the opportunities I feel right at this stage of my life.

As a songwriter where do you get your creative inspiration for lyrics etc/ ( dreams, life experience, emotions?)

I pretty much write about anything, getting inspiration from life experiences, emotions…I’m really visual so I start to see images in my head and they become emotions, thoughts, tears, laughs, words…I need to see things before I talk about ’em.The inspirational process is so magical:that’s one of the major thing that really got meElodia Agostini “trapped”into this kind of job.I made of meditation a daily practice since years, being a martial artist’ practitioner, and that helps to metabolize and translate thoughts, experiences, pain&happiness to the core.I don’t think, there would be a deeper way to catch a concept or an experience who lives within you as through the songwriting.

How do like livening in Los Angeles?

I totally LOVE living in Los Angeles!Such a complex, stimulating city where if you can think about something, you can surely find it or experience it!It’s full of artists as well and this is awesome! We find each other,we collaborate…Not to mention the rad weather all-year-long and the whole environment!Definitely,my ideal space of mind…

What are some of your favorite spots in LA? Can you give me 4 of the places you like!

I love nature in general,so I go often, almost daily to the beach, usually in Malibu;love the Griffith Park as well for hiking and meditating.Love to visit Santa Monica and its little shops or hot spots where to meet with friends. And of course, any spot with great shows and music is def on the list!

What are your current projects?

My current project sees the collaboration with another Italian, the super talented guitar player Dario Forzato, who’s one of the members of the LA’based band the Rapscallions, we’ve been working on a new album for about 9 months and we are actually tracking guitars & vocals. It’s gonna be done around February 2013,produced by a huge name of the discography,Mr.James Saez. I started as opera singer, but, btw the years,I’ve been experiencing any kind of music. 2002-2003 I’ve been working in NYC as back-vocal singer and I started to see myself capable to produce something new, different from anything else I ever done before. So this last work will see a fresh and fascinating mix of rock, electronic and ethnic sounds!I’m so excited to share it with all of you! When the work will be done,I’ll be performing around live, finally…I missed the stage!:)

What are some of your goals for the future!

Going live as much as I can, maybe open a tour for some big bands out there and sign a record deal are my goals for the very near future!I’m a workaholic and I’m so in love with my job,I’m always ready to go and committed 100%!
