Trishna the film by Micheal Winterbottom, based on the novel Tess of the d’Urbervilles is a story of a tragic relationship between a property developer and the daughter of an auto rickshaw owner. Only Micheal Winterbottom could take a novel set in lush meadows and green hills and transfer it to Rajasthan which is hot and brown in modern day northern India. Trishna is played by heartthrob, the sexy Freida Pinto, a rustic heroine who’s seduced by a wealthy hotelier’s son. The film debuted at the Toronto Film Festival and here at Abu Dhabi Film Festival Micheal Winter Bottom was awarded the Black Pearl Award for Career Excellence. The film is a journey for the senses it is perhaps a great compliment to the cuisine of Chef Marco Pierre White at the Fairmont. The best part is that the Toronto headquartered Fairmont is opeing a luxury hotel while modern is traditional in architectural design. The new Fairmont is in the heart of Rajasthan in the historic city of Jaipur, where I once made a film Deceivers directed by Nicholas Meyers, starring Pierce Brosnan, Saeed Jaffrey and Shashi Kapoor. Trishna is a film that brings all the elements together, Micheal Winterbottom, the alluring Freida Pinto, Rajasthan, and the Fairmont hotel group from Toronto to Abu Dhabi and soon Jaipur. The film will want to make you venture out to Rajasthan and see this historic area of India knowing full well that luxury awaits you at the bard new Fairmont hotel opening soon. The adventure never stops on My Name is Khan.
A Thrill For The Senses by Winterbottom in Abu Dhabi!
